(Chicago) – For anyone who has a dream house or remodeling project in mind, but doesn’t know where to start, In Wright’s Drafting Room: Architecture Fantasy Camp will introduce skills needed to transform a concept into a working plan.
Only nonarchitects are invited to attend Architecture Fantasy Camp, which this year will take place 6:30-9:30 p.m.,Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, 951 Chicago Ave., Oak Park, Ill. The educational program is offered by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust.
Campers work in the same drafting room where Frank Lloyd Wright conceived Prairie style masterpieces such as Unity Temple, the Frederick C. Robie House and the Arthur Heurtley House.
With assistance from a professional architect, participants plan and design a structure of their own. Past projects have included room additions and remodeling, a sauna and a garden gazebo. Some participants have used theirArchitecture Fantasy Camp designs to build a complete house.
Attendees also enjoy a private, in-depth tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, Wright’s Frederick C. Robie House and Unity Temple.
The cost to attend In Wright’s Drafting Room: Architecture Fantasy Camp is $500 for Frank Lloyd Wright Trust members and $550 for non-members. For more information, visit Adult Programs on flwright.org.
