Oak Park and River Forest High School hosted its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial assembly, Jan. 17. The 35th annual event included the winners of the school’s MLK oratorical contest. This year, four winners were chosen, each of whom recited their winning essays at last Friday’s assembly, which included a special highlight. Preselected students silently stood up throughout the auditorium holding signs stating how the OPRF community can “increase the peace.” The winning essays will be featured in Viewpoints over the next four weeks beginning with today’s issue.
