Wannabe club owners Angelina Collins and Julian Reed have pulled their application for a public place of amusement (PPA) license with the Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals for the proposed nightclub Behind Closed Doors, 6206 W. North Ave. But word is still out on whether the pair will continue pursuing a business license for the revamped proposal, which would open a banquet hall at the location.
Perry Camberis Abassi, an NCC (Northwest Side Community Coalition) member, said the PPA license would have allowed the owners to charge admission to the club and advertise DJ dance parties and other events. Neighbors have opposed the business, arguing that it would bring noise, public drinking and litter to the nearby residential area.
Ald. Deborah Graham (29th) said in a telephone interview that she is uncertain whether Collins and Reed are still pursuing a business license for the banquet hall but noted, “My opposition to the business is still the same.”
