This week and last we’ve reported news of new restaurants in Oak Park. And we’re working on reports of two more coming soon. This is good news for people who eat.
Over on Madison Street, a long vacant pizza place will soon be filled with a seafood spot. And a French café is eyeing a location in The Avenue shopping district. Best yet, both Surf’s Up and Café Dampierre are owned by Oak Park people.
Over recent decades, Oak Park has become a destination for dining. The loosening of Oak Park’s dry laws has certainly spurred restaurant growth. But Oak Park’s diversity and lure as an urban suburb have also added to the attraction. Finally, restaurants beget restaurants as diners come to think of a community as a destination with many delicious options.
