In order to further their LEED certification on the upcoming renovation of Ridgeland Common, the park board gave approval for a green roof on the building.
Executive Director Jan Arnold said she received an email from Nagle Hartray Architecture saying a lift would be required for ADA compliance if they went forward with the original plan of having a sundeck roof on the building. The lift would cost $150,000.
But the board decided not much could be done with a deck. Instead, they opted to save between $75,000 and $100,000 by doing away with the deck option, which would include stairs.
