Two River Forest schools were among the top in Chicagoland based on results from the Illinois Standards Achievement Test.
The Chicago Tribune reported Lincoln Elementary School ranked 50th of the 50 best in overall ISAT results from grades 3 through 8 for 2011. Schools were drawn from Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane, Will and McHenry counties, and were ranked by the percentage of test scores that met or exceeded state standards. At Lincoln, 97.4 percent of the 3rd and 4th graders that took the test met or exceeded standards.
A report from the Chicago Sun-Times, which ranks schools by average scores, says 84.85 percent of Illinois students taking the ISAT scored the same as or worse than the average student at Lincoln. Lincoln came in at 17th of 50 ranked elementary schools in the state according to that report.
Roosevelt Middle School ranked 34th of 50 ranked middle schools in the state, according to the Sun-Times report. Roosevelt’s percentage was 78.32.
District 90 Superintendent Ed Condon said students from all three D90 schools are very fortunate to have outstanding teachers and school leaders, and to come from homes that value and support education.
“What’s most important is that we continue to believe in and support great instruction,” Condon said. Instruction is the emphasis, and strong assessment scores likely will follow, he said.
