(Parents And Community Together to reduce youth alcohol & drug use)
IMP.A.C.T.’s Teen Substance Abuse Awareness through Art Contest offers a great opportunity for aspiring young artists to express their views about the dangers of substance use and addiction. The contest asks that students currently enrolled in 6th, 7th or 8th grade in any Oak Park or River Forest school, create an original advertisement or piece of art that celebrates healthy choices and substance-free living or depicts the risks and/or dangers of smoking, drug use and/or alcohol use.
Participants will submit an original advertisement or piece of art in any medium (i.e. poster, 3-D mixed-media, ceramics, sculpture, video, audio/music) that carries an anti-drug, anti-smoking or anti-alcohol message appropriate for pre-teens and teens. Students may work in teams of up to three individuals. The message should depict the benefits of healthy choices and substance-free living or portray the risks and dangers of smoking, drug or alcohol use and/or addiction. A public showing of all entries will be held Nov. 1, 2011 with a reception honoring the winners. Venue to be announced.
