A Facebook group had been created to help connect friends, family and volunteers involved in the search for missing Oak Park resident Jassen Strokosch. The group is called Find Jassen Strokosch, and volunteers have continued to post information about search areas and flier distribution sites.
Volunteer coordinators told Wednesday Journal that plans for weekend search efforts are still up in the air. “It’s still in the planning stages,” said Nancy Guarino. Barrett said that volunteers will likely try to meet later in the day on Friday to carve out plans for the weekend.
People interested in joining the volunteer effort should call Guarino at 708-979-8309.
Also posted on the Facebook group is a YouTube video recording some of the search effort at Thatcher Woods Forest Preserve. In that video, volunteer Michael Barrett explains that Strokosch is believed to be in the area.
Barrett described Strokosch as an avid outdoorsman and camper. He also says that Thatcher Woods is a place where Strokosch has gone to run, hike with his family and walk his dog.
Barrett said that he and other volunteers have been instructed not to engage Strokosch if they see him, but to instead immediately call 911 or the Forest Preserve non-emergency number, which is 708-771-1001.
“There’s no danger involved, we’re just trying to help him get home,” Barrett said.
