Noel Kuriakos and his cranky friends at the suspect Taxpayers United of America announced Monday that they will appeal a judge’s ruling that their suit against District 97 over its recent referendum was without merit.

We’re shocked. This suggests to us that Kuriakos and the various Taxpayers/Tobin creatures are merely publicity hounds. Who’d have thought?

Their announcement points out correctly that they have the right to appeal. And they do. That’s our system. Even crackpots get to appeal sound legal judgments. But any pretense that they are representing a notable group of Oak Park voters is absurd. In the toughest year in memory to pass a tax hike, our elementary schools won by eight points. That’s the message.

Now forcing the district to spend more to defend an appeal is the height of self-involvement by Kuriakos and the Taxpayer/Tobins.
