The new Board of Trustees was formed at West Suburban Medical Center this month. This is the first Board to operate under the hospital’s new owners, Vanguard Health Systems. The new West Suburban Medical Center Board of Trustees is comprised of community leaders from the Austin and Oak Park-River Forest communities. Serving on the Board are, Marianne Schiavone, Chairwoman, Jan Pate, Vice-Chair, Mary Jo Schuler, Ph.D., Ade Onayemi, State Representative LaShawn K. Ford, Rev. James Frazier, Anthony Williams, Kenneth Blair, M.D., Michael DeHaan, M.D., Joe Mullany, VHS Market president, and Jack Cleary, secretary.

Marianne Schiavone, an Oak Park resident, has served as a member of the West Suburban Health Services Board of Directors, has chaired the West Suburban Medical Center Sentinel Board and been a member of the West Suburban Medical Center Auxiliary Board for almost 30 years. Jan Pate is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the West-Cook YMCA and Oak Park Village Trustee. Reverend James Frazier, a city of Chicago resident and presently the Associate Pastor of the Union Hill Baptist Church on the West side of Chicago and Executive Director of the August Minor Community and Family Life Center.
Mary Jo Schuler, Ph.D., a local entrepreneur, developer and philanthropist whose recent projects include expanding the Marion Street Cheese Market, partnering on the Madison Highlands development team, co-founding Greenline Wheels, and also co-founding the Good Heart Work Smart Foundation.
Representative LaShawn K. Ford is currently serving the eighth District in the State of Illinois. The district is comprised of diverse communities including the West side of Chicago, Oak Park and Berwyn.
Ade Onayemi, an Oak Park resident and president of the architectural firm, Urban Resources, Inc. former member and president of the Oak Park Elementary School District 97 Board of Education. Anthony Williams, A Melrose Park resident and west-side business owner serving his second term as a Proviso Township Trustee. Kenneth M. Blair, M.D., is a River Forest resident and graduate of the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency Program. Michael DeHaan, M.D., a River Forest resident and current president of the West Suburban Medical Center Medical Staff. Joseph Mullany, President, Vanguard Health Systems, New England and Chicago Market and Jack Cleary, Chief Executive Officer, West Suburban Medical Center.
