We are writing to thank the Park District of Oak Park for flooding the Longfellow Park tennis courts for ice skating this winter. We live directly across from the courts on Ridgeland Avenue, and while our ice skating days are behind us, we have enjoyed observing all the people who have taken advantage of the rink.
It’s great to see folks getting out in winter for some exercise and fun. And it is nice to see kids organizing their own pickup hockey games, other kids just learning to skate and quite a few adults taking a spin.
Our thanks also go out to the park district employees who we see out at all hours of the day and night, spraying and maintaining the ice. We know the ice is hostage to the weather, but we want you to know that your efforts are appreciated. And we hope the district will continue to provide this opportunity in the future.
