Once again our vision has halted at Harlem. Our businesses have been migrating westward for some years now. Traffic flows smoothly on Madison and cars stop at pedestrian crosswalks west of Harlem. Parking is free or reasonably priced on side streets and village lots with real meters right next to your car. Restaurants and shops abound.
Yet our outdated elitism has ignored Forest Park in the renaming of the Village Players space at 1010 Madison, even though our first tenants will be their widely acclaimed Circle Theater. A more accurate and welcoming name would be the Tri Village Performing Arts Center. It’s time to include Forest Park in the neighborhood.
