Four OPRF High School athletes advanced out of the Midwest Junior Rowing Championships held at East Fork State Park in Bethel, Ohio.

Rowing in the 2,000-meter competition for Lincoln Park Juniors in Chicago, Danny Sanchez and Glenn Wooden placed second in the Boys 1st Varsity 8-plus with a time of 6:09.2 and Charlotte Lantz and Molly Peterson placed third in the Girls 1st Varsity 8-plus with a time of 6:55.07.

The four athletes will compete at the 2012 U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships held in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on June 9-12.

 All four students ended the regular season at the Greater Chicago Junior Rowing Championship held on May 5th in Crystal Lake. Lantz and Peterson’s womens varsity 8 boat posted a winning time of 6:49.16 in a very close 8/100 of a second win over rival New Trier. Sanchez and Wooden’s mens varsity 8 placed second behind New Trier with a time of 6:04.2.
