If the Gaza invasion where in Chicago, Oak Park would be in the middle of the territory. At least that’s how data artist Chris Walker figures it in a World.Mic article posted to the site on Saturday, July 19.
Walker created maps using the shape of densly populated Gaza in nine major U.S. cities. Because Gaza has about 1.8 million residents, each map represents the same number of people. 1.8 million New Yorkers. 1.8 million Bostonians. 1. 8 million Chicagians.
“At least 296 Gazans have already been killed in the recent conflict,” Walker wrote on Saturday. “But this reality can feel distant and abstract.”
