I’ve argued that the most derelict commercial stretch in Oak Park is along Roosevelt Road from Austin to Ridgeland. Now Oak Park’s village government is starting to talk about creating a Tax Increment Finance district on Roosevelt to gradually accumulate some cash to provide incentives to developers or to pay to upgrade infrastructure to lure developers. There was also discussion at the recent village board meeting about extending that potential TIF up Harlem to fold in the decrepit Mohr Concrete plant. Sydney Lovan has details.

Oak Park explores TIF district for Roosevelt Road
Berwyn has been outpacing Oak Park with economic development along Roosevelt Road for years and the Oak Park village board thinks it is time to catch up.
Trustee James Taglia, seconded by Trustee Chibuike Enyia, motioned to discuss a Tax Increment Financing district along Roosevelt, and possibly extending to include the Mohr Concrete property. There was also discussion of a TIF that included North Avenue. This unfolded at the village board meeting on Aug. 25.

Is West Sub removing equipment from hospital?
The West Suburban Medical Center lawsuit remains unresolved as parties continue to dispute whether a May settlement agreement is legally binding.
