Volunteers help cleanup West Side after looting, riots

As the world mourns the death of George Floyd, who was killed on May 25 when Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nine minutes, there were areas on the West Side that were impacted by looting. However, Austin Coming Together helped organize cleanups throughout the West Side yesterday as volunteers came together on short notice. There were three locations (Lake and Laramie; Lacrosse and Maypole; Lavergne and Washington) that volunteers went to cleanup some of the damage from this past week. Our photographer, Alex Rogals, showed up at one of them to take pictures of the volunteers who stepped up to help.
