When I was young, my mother and I would shop in Oak Park along Lake Street because wonderful stores were there. I remember the trip to buy my going-away outfit, when I was to be married. I was fortunate, during my Illinois Senate tenure, to represent part of Oak Park. I chose to dig in and represent Oak Park in its entirety, enjoying learning about all the village had to offer.
