The River Forest Park District Board of Commissioners is looking for another member to fill a seat left vacant after the April elections.
Executive Director Michael Sletten said that commissioners Dale Jones and Ron Steele left the board after their six-year terms expired, but only one commissioner, Paul Koester, was elected in April as a replacement.
The empty board seat is for a two-year term, rather than six years. Sletten said that election laws state that the board appointments are only good through the next election.
The park district has released a questionnaire for potential applicants, which is available on its website at rfparks.com. Questionnaires are due no later than June 8. Sletten said the board expects to make the appointment at its next meeting, on June 13. He said it’s fairly certain that the board will have chosen a candidate by that time.
“We’ve had a number of residents who, prior to the press release, have already expressed some interest in applying for the position,” Sletten said.
