The Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce kicked off the start of Foodie Fest with a special party on Friday, February 20, 2015. Hundreds came out to the Nineteenth Century Club to attend Bite Nite, the sold out event featuring gourmet tastes from over 20 local restaurants and caterers. Cooking demos and live entertainment created an exciting atmosphere. Raffle prizes were drawn every half hour, and guests were able to purchase craft beer or wine. Carnivore, Eyrie, and New Rebozo helped liven up the crowd with on-site cooking demos, and students from the Nutrition and Dietetics Department from Dominican University helped the restaurants serve their bites. Triton Community College Culinary students were also on hand to showcase their skills. Entertainment was provided by Kim Frost Vocal Studios.
Foodie Fest runs until March 7th. Local restaurants are offering Prix Fixe Menus with three course or three items available for $10, $20, or $30 depending on the restaurant. Visit www.foodiefest.com for a list of participating restaurants and their menus.
