Beatrice L. Schejbal, nee Bouchonville, 85, died on Oct. 23, 2026 in Oak Park. Born on March 17, 1941 in Chicago, she was a registered nurse at Loyola Hospital, Maywood. A dedicated nurse, she devoted her career to caring for those in need, but her nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession. Whether she was looking after children, helping a neighbor or offering comfort to a friend, Beatrice had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved, welcomed and cared for.

A devoted Catholic, she was actively involved in her faith community, generously volunteering her time at Ascension Church in Oak Park. She also shared her love of children and reading as a reading grandma at Irving School and was a proud Friend of Brookfield Zoo.

Above all, she had a heart for people. Her home was always open, often filled with family, friends, neighbors and anyone who needed to feel welcome. She offered a listening ear and made room for one more at the table. Caring for others was who she was.

Beatrice was the wife of James F. Schejbal; the mother of Leah M. Gonzalez, James J. Schejbal, Thomas P. (Tracy) Schejbal, Michael C. (Sonia) Schejbal, Joseph M. (Jana) Schejbal, William E. (Debbie) Schejbal, Jennifer A. (Mike) Li, Sarah D. Benway and Amy E. (Rob) Whaley; the grandmother of Gabe, Olivia, William, Annie, Abbie, Ellie, Josh, Allie, Lauren, Lucas, Lindsey, Logan, Landon, Omar, Diana, Temica, Christopher, Annabella, Taylor, Matthew, Keira, Cori, Liam, Stella and Caden; the great-grandmother of 15; and the sister of Sr. Ruella Bouchonville O.P., and the late Gregory (Barbara) Bouchonville.

Visitation will be held on Nov. 2 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, 2447 S. Desplaines Ave., North Riverside. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Nov. 3 at Ascension Catholic Church in Oak Park, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
