Mary Kathleen (McNulty) Corrigan, 52, died peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026. “Katie,” as her late husband Kevin adoringly called her, fought bravely through multiple strokes and cancer. After showing exemplary strength for the couple’s three children, she was welcomed home and reunited with Kevin.
Born on Feb. 20, 1974 to Thomas C. McNulty and Mary Jane (Scanlon) McNulty in Des Plaines at Holy Family Hospital, she attended Hatch Elementary, Emerson Middle School and OPRF High School in Oak Park. She worked as an endodontic assistant and office manager at Cameo Endodontics and as a preschool aide teacher at Garfield Elementary in Forest Park. Her biggest accomplishment, however, was marrying the love of her life, Kevin Corrigan (who preceded her in death in 2021), and fiercely loving their three children, Molly, Maeve and James Thomas “JT” Corrigan.
She rarely minced words, was assertive, clever and hilarious, and as loyal as she was loving. She was that friend — the one with whom you laughed until you cried or ran out of breath. She is deeply missed and leaves an unfillable void.
Mary Kate is survived by her three children, Maeve, Molly and JT; her mother, Mary Jane (Scanlon) McNulty; her brother, Sean P. McNulty; her mother-in-law, Kay (Mannell) Corrigan; her brother-in-law, James B. Corrigan; her sisters-in-law, Carol (Corrigan) Falasz and her companion, EJ Stern, Mary Kay (Corrigan) Ross and her husband, John, Beth (Corrigan) Peloquin and her husband, Mark, and Ann (Corrigan) Bath and her husband, Jamey; her four nieces and three nephews: Lauren (Falasz) Laughlin (Aaron), Ashley (Falasz) Carpenter (Alex), Katie Ross, Alice Bath, Brian Falasz, Charlie Bath and Jeremiah Peloquin; and her dear friends, Chris and Erin Leahy and their daughters, Maeve and Kendall and a whole “village” of extended family, neighbors, co-workers and friends near and far who will forever feel her absence.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kevin S. Corrigan; her father, Thomas C. McNulty of Oak Park; and her father-in-law, James B. Corrigan.
Memorial visitation will be held at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home in Forest Park on Oct. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Odilo Catholic Church, 2244 East Ave., Berwyn on Oct. 15, at 9:30 a.m., interment private.
Kate’s family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and medical staff at Lutheran General Hospital and Loyola Medical Center for their care and expertise and Trinity High School and St. Pat’s High School for their unending love and support.
In lieu of flowers, please email anncorriganbath@gmail.com to learn about ways to assist with the creation and funding of a health and education trust for the benefit of the children.
