Oak Park police are seeking the public’s help for any information regarding an alleged sexual assault committed Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 block of South Lyman Avenue. 

According to a police press release, at about 12:24 p.m. Wednesday a female juvenile was approached by a male in his 20s, possibly of Hispanic or Indian descent. He was riding a gray bicycle. The man was wearing a black shirt and colorful shorts. He allegedly grabbed the girl from behind and placed his hand up her shorts, causing a struggle.  

Police searched for the man but were unable to locate him and have stepped up patrols in the area, the release said. 

Police Chief Shatonya Johnson was not available for comment on the matter Thursday afternoon.
