River Forest District 90 announced its newly appointed director of curriculum and instruction, Christine Trendel, who will begin her new position in July.

According to the press release sent out by the district, Trendel was appointed following an “extensive search” that included interviews with staff, community members, faculty and D90 board members.

“I am delighted that Dr. Christine Trendel will be joining our team at District 90,” said Supt. Ed Condon. “She brings a passion for student success, commitment to supporting educators, and focus on building collaborative relationships with all stakeholders. I look forward to her contributions to our learning community.”

Trendel will be coming to River Forest from her current position as principal at Jackson School at Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205, where she has been serving for seven years. Trendel has had a successful seven-year run, working with more than 60 faculty and staff members, working on curriculum initiatives and helping support teacher collaborations and student learning through her implementation of professional learning communities.

Her experience includes serving as an assistant principal, district curriculum specialist, K-8 grade instructional coach and teacher at both Naperville School District 209 and Arlington Heights School District 25.

Trendel received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign and later earned two master’s degrees: mastes of education with educational leadership from Roosevelt University, and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University.
