Each year an estimate of 10 trillion plastic pellets end up in our marine ecosystem and is the third largest source of intentional microplastic being released into our environment. In honor of plastic-free July, we need to bring awareness to the issue of plastic pollution.

If the public is unaware of the harmful effects of plastic pellets, they will continue to threaten our health. This is why we need to enforce a zero discharge policy that ensures not a single plastic pellet is spilled into our waters and the proper technology has to be implemented to accomplish this. Illinois residents who care about their environment and their personal health are urged to call their state legislature and ask them to support this zero discharge policy.
