Patrick Edward Schumann, 76, died peacefully on Sept. 28, 2025. Born on Dec. 15, 1948 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, the sixth of eight to Chester and Lorraine (Sutliff) Schumann, he was a family man through and through. From his mother, he got his huge heart, helping anyone who needed it and always being a calm, loving presence. From his father, he inherited his dignity, humility, and sense of humor, believing that hard work paid off, laughter is the only way through tough times, and that good people have good lives.
In 1973, he met his wife of over 50 years, Kristine. He always greeted her with a hug and a kiss. They loved to take long car rides, watch Hallmark movies and NASCAR, dream about the future and reminisce about the past. They were always in tune.
He supported Jeremy through every season and they shared a love of sports, classic rock, and play wrestling. He was extremely proud of Kelly and they would often argue politics, talk Bears football, and make funny faces at each other.
Pat loved classic cars, Greek food, and good print jobs. He gave nicknames to everyone and often invented his own words. He was a natural performer who could sing, dance, and tell a great joke. He was quick to offer you a quarter to scratch his back and if you asked him his favorite song of all time, he would start belting out “Act Naturally” by The Beatles.
A salesman, teacher, goofball, gentleman, mentor, friend, devoted brother, and greatest dad of all time, he is survived by his wife, Kristine (nee Leutermann); his children, Jeremy and Kelly; his brother, Jack (Arlene); his sister-in-law, Jan; his sister, Jeanne (Joe Papania); his brothers, Jim (Sharon) and David; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends and colleagues, and his walking buddy, the family dog, Garrett. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Lorraine and his brothers Mike (Arlene) and Bill.
A memorial will be held at Peterson-Bassi Chapels at 6938 W. North Ave., Chicago, on Friday, June 19, from 3 to 6 p.m. with a service at 5 p.m. A burial service will be held at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery at 4th Avenue and Washington Street in Grafton, Wisconsin on June 20 at 11 a.m. All are welcome.
