Junior Jordan Williams rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries as the Oak Park and River Forest High School varsity football team rolled to a 48-12 West Suburban Silver victory over Proviso West in Hillside, Sept. 19.
Senior Jordan Gardner ran for 57 yards and a touchdown on eight carries, and junior Liam Smith ran for 34 yards and two scores and caught a 38-yard pass for the Huskies (2-2, 1-1 in WSC Silver), who amassed 261 yards on the ground. Defensively, senior Caleb Collins and junior Robert Kolovitz each recorded six tackles as OPRF limited the Panthers (1-3, 0-2) to 199 yards of total offense.
The Huskies face York, Sept. 26, in Elmhurst. Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m.
OPRF girls volleyball
The Huskies (11-4) entered this week on a six-match unbeaten streak, largely due to winning the Denise Kavanaugh Invite at Downers Grove South, Sept. 12-13.

After losing the invite opener to Joliet West in two sets, OPRF rattled off three consecutive victories, De La Salle, Geneva, and Nazareth Academy, before facing Joliet West in a rematch, this time with the title on the line.
Junior outside hitter Emmi Bozarth had seven kills, six digs and an ace, senior setter Erin Dwyer 17 assists, and junior middle hitter Jaida Garland four blocks as the Huskies defeated the Tigers 25-19, 25-17 to win the championship. Bozarth, senior libero Kate Baillitz, and junior defensive specialist Devyn Kleidon were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Baillitz getting Most Valuable Player honors.
OPRF picked up two more wins at home last week: 25-16, 25-23 over Hinsdale Central, Sept. 16, and 25-6, 25-5 over Proviso East, Sept. 18. The Huskies continue their season-long six-match homestand against Downers Grove South, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m.
Fenwick volleyball
The Friars (16-7) finished fifth in the Silver Bracket at last week’s Wheaton Classic, hosted by Wheaton-Warrenville South.

On Sept. 17, Fenwick lost to Benet Academy 12-25, 21-25, but bounced back in the nightcap to defeat Geneva 25-16, 25-20.
On Sept. 20, the Friars lost in three sets – 19-25, 25-23, 16-25 – to Sandburg. But they recovered from the loss with consecutive victories: 25-15, 25-21 over Metea Valley, and 25-20, 9-25, 25-21 over Yorkville.
Junior outside hitter Bella Gray amassed 35 kills and 24 digs over the course of the tournament. Junior setter Hailey Bernahl had 38 assists, and classmate Sofia Grossman added 37 assists. Senior libero Sophia Leonardi recorded 33 digs. Senior middle hitter Lilly Boyle had seven blocks, and senior outside hitter Lily Sampey added five.
Fenwick is at St. Ignatius for a Girls Catholic Athletic Conference contest, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m.
Cross country
The Fenwick girls placed second at the Riverside-Brookfield Invite, Sept. 20, with 46 points, six behind the champion and host Bulldogs. The Friars swept the top three places individually. Junior Juliana Gamboa won in a time of 18:31.6. Sophomore Bridget Brunick was second in 19:12.3, and Mia Bagato was third 19:13.8.

Junior Lily Kotynek (18th, 21:29.5), sophomore Victoria Alegre (22nd, 22:42.6), junior Ally Austin (25th, 22:52.4), sophomore Eden Gerbrecht (30th, 24:45.4), seniors Romy Bergetz (25:15.3) and Ellie Biemer (25:16.5), and junior Carolina Vasquez (25:19.7) rounded out Fenwick’s lineup.
Also at RB, Trinity finished sixth with 171 points. Senior Alessandra Pineda was the top runner for the Blazers, finishing 23rd in a time of 22:44.5. Senior Gigi Vitto (35th, 26:07.2), juniors Alexa Rodriguez (36th, 26:30.2), Emily Miehlich (38th, 26:43.9), and Mary Margaret Wynne (39th, 28:48.2), and senior Grace Ramel (40th, 29:15.7) completed Trinity’s lineup.
On the boys side at RB, Fenwick finished third with 65 points. Senior James Kiesewetter was the Friars’ top runner, coming in sixth place with a time of 17:32.2. Sophomore Wolfie Bergetz notched a top-10 finish, placing ninth in 17:39.9.
Seniors Nicholas Casaccio (14th, 18:03.9) and Aidan Powers (15th, 18:05.8), freshman Peter Hasenauer (21st, 18:19.6), and senior Jason Garza (30th, 18:54.9) rounded out the lineup.
