The lilac bush is blooming
But it should not be.
It’s autumn, too late.
These blooms cannot survive.
Tender leaves, young and deep green
will be shortly covered with snow.
It has been an unusual season
Defying expectations
Igniting old fears.
These lilac blooms may not survive,
But the lilac bush will.
It is sturdy and resilient.
Its roots run deep and it will bloom,
When spring rolls around again.
