Gina Ruggiero (nee Minervini), 90, a River Forest resident for over 46 years, died on Nov. 16, 2020. Born in Chicago on July 3, 1930, she attended Austin High School, class of 1948. She married Angelo Ruggiero on Oct. 11, 1950. They had four children, nine grandchildren, with a 10th grandchild on the way in March, and five great-grandchildren.
They moved in 1974 to River Forest, where she volunteered at Willard School and St. Vincent Ferrer Church, and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of Villa Scalabrini.
Gina was the wife of the late Angelo for 67 years; the mother of Nicholas, Anna Jean (Brian) Flanagan, Richard (Gina), and Michael (Diana) Ruggiero; the grandmother of Angelo, Robert, Sarah (Mike), Sherry, Jennifer (Grant) Dawson, Allison Flanagan, Mia, Elisabeth, Anna and Angelo; the great-grandmother of Olivia, Madeleine, Alex, Chloe, and Maxwell Dawson; and the sister, aunt and friend of many.
Visitation and funeral will be private.
