I am volunteering along with several other women at the polls at Oak Park Village Hall. Anecdotes each day and lots of rain on day five. The wait times have come down considerably since day one, and average about two hours.
I would like to give a shout-out to my fellow volunteers, especially Cathy Kestler, who escorted countless people through the accessible entrance up to first-floor voting, and the kind and respectful voters who greeted each other and made offers to help. Several surrendered their own chairs to give to someone else; two ran to the front of the line to aid a woman who collapsed; and inside Village Clerk Vicki Scaman and her deputy work tirelessly with the Cook County team.
In particular, Nathan, walked to Dunkin’ Donuts and purchased a carton of coffee and hot chocolate which he gave away to people in line!
