After reading about the dire financial straits of some restaurants along Lake Street due to road construction [Lake St. restaurants starved for customers, News, Sept. 30], my husband and I ventured out last Friday to visit one of our favorite restaurants, Rustico.

We quickly found parking in the public lot on Oak Park Avenue and North Boulevard, just a block from the restaurant. Lake Street between Oak Park and Euclid avenues was dug up, but the sidewalks were intact, and we easily covered the short walk from the parking lot to the restaurant, where we had a delicious lunch.

I encourage everyone who can do so to patronize their favorite restaurants on Lake Street during construction. One day, the construction will be over, as will the pandemic. What a loss it would be if these restaurants disappeared in the meantime.
