The Lincoln Middle School Choir was awarded a philanthropic grant from the Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) to help fund their choir trip to the America Sings! Music Festival in Washington, DC.
Lincoln Middle School Choir Director Beverly Tarbox said, “We are extremely grateful to the Berwyn Development Corporation for helping us provide this amazing opportunity to our students. Thank you!”
America Sings inspires young people involved in the arts to use their time and talents to help others. The children spend a weekend performing music, hearing choirs from around the country, making sandwiches for homeless shelters and preparing school supply backpacks for needy children. To conclude the festival, the participants gather for a Massed-Choir Finale Celebration.
BDC Board Treasurer Nora Laureto stated, “On behalf of the BDC and Philanthropic Committee, we are pleased to be a part of this wonderful event celebrating music and the importance of community service among youth. Educators are encouraged to apply for a BDC philanthropic grant so we can continue to make a positive and meaningful impact on Berwyn’s next generation.”
Lincoln Middle School’s mission is to create a safe environment where students can learn to become responsible and respectful citizens.
