The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest is releasing a new promotional poster by internationally known comic artist Chris Ware, an Oak Park resident. Ware, a frequent contributor to The New Yorker and creator of the Acme Novelty Library series, has put out a poster featuring the historic 1898 firehouse in Oak Park that will serve as the new home for the historical society museum. Proceeds from the poster sales will go toward rehab of the firehouse.

The historical society describes the new poster as a sequel to two earlier works he created for the group that featured Oak Park’s Heurtley House and River Forest’s Purcell House. The posters are available on the group’s website and Ware will be available to sign them at this year’s Spring House Walk on May 1.
