I have a friend who has had a few years of struggles. She’s far away. We had years when we didn’t see each other or even get to share our frustrations and joys.
Honestly, I didn’t know for quite a long time that she was unhappy, that things hadn’t gone as wonderfully as I had hoped for her. I had been steeped in my own complicated life “things.” The bakery, babies, moving, new jobs and no jobs had kept me pretty much self involved for years.
I cried for her when I found out just how long “things” had gone wrong for her. She’s too far to drive over and have a good cry with. She’s states away. I couldn’t just hug her. So I started sending her cards. My thought was that I could send a letter, courage in a card, something she could hold onto even if I couldn’t hold her back.
Thanks to Fitzgeralds, I’ve had plenty of fantastic cards to choose from. I’m not always that great about sending a card a week, but I haven’t stopped. I’ve been sending messages for months. At this point I think my friend is a little stuck getting the cards. Because I’m going to continue shopping at Fitzgeralds and sending cards.
