Bead in Hand has been in Oak Park for years. Over a year ago Kim Humphrey agreed to take over ownership of our friendly neighborhood bead store. Since Kim had been managing the shop since 2005, the store is still just as friendly as it always was.

The week before school ended my daughter’s junior level girl scout troop visited Kim and Bead in Hand to finish their jewelry badges. It was really great. The staff was super friendly. The girls were able to use hammers, feathers, and copper wire to create their own pieces to hang on their necklaces.

It was great. Their necklaces turned out beautifully.

My daughter participated in a birthday party at Bead in Hand not just a few years ago. She still has the little bead person on a special shelf in her room and talks about how much fun she had that day. Her peers from her Girl Scout troop all left wanting a little longer to make another necklace and peruse the fun beads available in store.

I personally am anxiously waiting for the moment when my children are easy to put to bed and watch so that I can increase my participation in one of Bead in Hand’s adult classes.

Classes. Parties. Fun.

I highly recommend finishing the junior jewelry badge at Bead in Hand. Of course I recommend the birthday parties. And I’ll start looking for more babysitters to organize a mom’s bead night out. Who is with me?
