At OakPark.com, the Wednesday Journal, we are a small business ourselves. It’s probably why our hearts stand with our small businesses that line our avenues and bring a little cheer into our lives.
Last year after David featured some of our retailers windows at night before the holidays, we all thought the same thing, “That extra bit of creativity should be rewarded.” How could we possibly recognize that more?
This year behind closed doors, in a very secret hush hush meeting, our online editor Ashley, our very behind the scenes advertising coordinator Alicia and myself pounded out the details of starting a window display contest.
Our retailers had to let us know they were entering. FOURTEEN retailers said they will enter for the chance to be featured in color in the paper and on line. We hand out posters today and tomorrow for businesses to hang up in their windows and encourage our community to vote for them
Here are the 14 names. Mind you -this is our first year and we announced the news 2 weeks before entry, I think 14 is a great number – I’m thankful this many of my retailing friends are up to the challange. And I expect that next year (oh yes there will be a next year) folks that might not have known, or might not have been inspired will get in on the action.
Oh – right – here is the list – probably in the order folks entered. But I CAN TELL you each has a window worth watching.
