For me, Valentine’s Day has always been more about renewal and acceptance than new love. That’s part of the reason why, for me, this holiday is special. On Valentine’s Day we offer up “renewal” to our friends, partners and family members by remembering them with gifts, tokens and small gestures of kindness. It’s our chance to say, “I love you still, I love you always, I value your friendship.”

Treating a loved one to an hour long massage gives them a physical feeling of renewal. A Valentine note from a friend gives both the sender and the recipient an emotional sense of renewal. And of course, laughter over a delicious Valentine’s Day dessert can offer up that same sense of a new beginning and friendship.

Even though I try to tell my family often that I love them, to remind them every day that they are accepted, safe and loved, Valentine’s Day gives me a chance to say it big. On Valentine’s Day I want “I love you” to stick just a little bit more than on other days. Small acts of kindness in the form of a Valentine note, a friendly call, or a cupcake placed in friendship on a co-worker’s desk can go a long way to making someone feel renewed, loved and accepted. After all, we are all human and we all want to feel cared-for. Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to take action. Let the people in your life know that you love them this Valentine’s Day, renew your relationships and make the holiday a fantastic one.

We hope you enjoy this small sampling of gift suggestions to help you say it big on Valentine’s Day. Happy Valentine’s Day!
