My husband and I had 30 minutes of free time on Saturday night.  One child was safely tucked at a gymnastics family night and the other was busily celebrating at a birthday party in some far southern suburb.  We decided to hike down to Kinderhook Tap for a quick bite and drink. (They were quick too – but that’s another story)

We bellied up to the bar, ordered our craft brews and snacks and started in on a nice friendly chat sans children.

Then I noticed that our coasters said www.animalcareleague.org on them.  There was the adorable little logo and a QR code on it.

I said to our bartender, “What a great idea for the coaster.”  “Oh,” she says, “Yeah the Animal Care League had those made up for us because we sponsor an adoption once a month.”

“We’ve been doing it awhile – we put a picture up of the animal up front and then we cover all the adoption fees.”

I didn’t know.  Kinderhook, for some time, has been giving to our community in this friendly consistent way. To Kinderhook’s credit this is a great way to support community members and a great non profit.  Sponsoring an adoption is like a double whammy of giving.  Kudos to them.

And it made me feel really great about my last minute (rare) 1 hour date with my husband. I was really glad we made the last minute effort to get out and enjoy a pint.  Thanks Kinderhook Tap. This is really great of you.
