About 500 students from Washington Irving Elementary School form the shape of the sun on the school’s playground as part of what they were calling a “Solarbration.” The school also recognized the runners who raised money for solar panels installed on the building’s rooftop last year by participating in the Ragnar Relay from Madison, Wisconsin to Chicago.

The solar panels, which were installed in December, were purchased using money from an Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation grant, as well as funds raised by the Irving PTO.
