Piertiz Brothers Inc., located at South Blvd. and Ridgeland Ave., has been in business for over 115 years. Three generations have managed and owned this unique office supply store. Amazingly, three generations of my own family have shopped here.
It’s pretty safe to say that almost anyplace my grandmother shopped is going to hold a special place in my Oak Park heart. And Pieritz is just one of those spots. I can’t name one Christmas when Pieritz products haven’t been part of our stocking stuffer regimen. My grandmother congratulated us all with new pens from Pieritz as we graduated from college.
As an independent adult, I have been completely wowed by their outstanding customer service. Last year when I needed labels, and I only needed 40 labels, Pieritz sold me just two sheets. As a stay at home mom labelling girl scout cookie packets for my daughter’s troop, it would have been wasteful for me to buy a big pack of labels from a mega store. I’m still a little stunned at how fantastic that small action was. It made my day so much easier and saved me about $30.
That level of service and Pieritz’s unique personality are exactly why this gem has been open for 115 years. Yep, this vintage era store has personality and lots of it. John Roberts and Deb Pieritz, have ensured that the store offers unique products you can’t necessarily find anywhere else.
When I needed a really nice guest book – I found one at Pieritz. I couldn’t find alphabet dividers for my 3 x 5 card file – I found them today at Pieritz. And if I couldn’t find it – I’m sure Deb or John would order something for me.
Full confession: I have a bit of a notebook addiction. Some people like scarves or shoes. Me? I could buy a new notebook everyday. Pieritz has them all. And to get in the Halloween spirit – I can get these really fun RHODIA notebooks at Pieritz. Pieritz just expanded the selection they offer. I took lots of pic’s.
And of course, I couldn’t resist today. I have my new notebook sitting on my desk. I’m ready for my next meeting. I’m sure all of my co-workers are going to be jealous.
