District 90’s Roosevelt Middle School has named a new interim assistant principal for the 2011-2012 school year.

Lisa Groves, a veteran teacher at the River Forest school, will take over this fall as an assistant principal, filling in for Tina Steketee who will be on maternity leave. Groves has been a teacher in the district for 10 years. According to a new release from the district, Groves started in corporate communications before becoming a teacher. She was inspired to enter education after volunteering in her kids’ classrooms. She taught third grade at Lincoln Elementary School in River Forest for five years and has since taught eighth grade at Roosevelt. “I worked hard to make my classrooms as lively and productive as possible,” she said in the release. “I’m excited about doing the same thing at a whole-school level.”
