The Community of Congregations will hold its annual Thanksgiving Interfaith Service at Oak Park Temple B’nai Abraham Zion, 1235 N. Harlem, this Sunday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. The temple’s cantor, Julie Green, will lead a “melting pot” of adult and children’s choirs from various congregations.

The theme for this year’s service is “Teaching Tolerance: Embracing Pluralism” and Rev. Larry McNally, pastor of Ascension Church will deliver the sermon, though it’s doubtful he or anyone else will be able to teach tolerance of dissenting opinions among the Catholic Church hierarchy, which has been actively trying to silence this outspoken pastor of late.

Donations will be collected during the service for the Holiday Food and Gift Basket program. The Community of Congregations promotes interdenominational dialogue among local religious groups. All are invited to attend and “begin to shrink our differences and celebrate our similarities.”
