Residents may not have received the bill for the second installment of their 2009 property taxes yet. Nevertheless, they only have until Monday, Nov. 8, to appeal their assessed values.
Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar is urging residents who might be worried about their impending bills to call and set up an appointment with his office (708-383-8005).
“By the time the bills are mailed, it will be too late to file a 2010 appeal,” he said in a press release.
Cook County last reassessed properties in 2008, with the next reassessment coming in 2011. However, taxpayers can still file appeals this year, though they wouldn’t see any savings until fall of 2011.
Residents seeking more information can go to a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. at Brooks Middle School, which will be attended by representatives of the Cook County Board of Review, and sponsored by ElSaffar and state Sen. Don Harmon.
