Don’t be surprised if you see undead ghouls shuffling across Oak Park’s southern border this weekend.
A “zombie walk” will take place Saturday on Roosevelt Road. Organizers of the event are asking participants to dress up as living corpses and shamble along, patronizing local businesses.
The event is the brainchild of Oak Parker John Aranza, who owns the memorabilia store Horrorbles on Roosevelt. Also in on the ghoulishness are the Berwyn Development Corporation and the Roosevelt Road Business Association. The “Inaugural Roosevelt Road Zombie Walk and Pub Crawl” lasts from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Admission is $10, which includes makeup and food at an after-party at FitzGerald’s, 6615 W. Roosevelt Rd. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Berwyn’s 16th Street Theater.
Makeup and costuming will be provided at Homescape Custom Builders and Designers, 6823 W. Roosevelt, and Citizens Community Bank, 7025 W. Roosevelt, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The pub crawl includes three Berwyn watering holes — 12th Street Rag, Friendly Tap and FitzGerald’s.
