Philander Barclay%uFEFF

Wednesday is (or would be) the birthday of Philander Barclay (if he hadn’t died in 1940). To celebrate the man who left us a legacy of turn-of-the-20th-century photos, the Historical Society will lead a tour of his old haunts, immediately following their annual meeting. The tour will include the spot where his bicycle shop was located, as well as Oak Park’s newest bike shop, Greenline Wheels, followed by appetizers and birthday cake at Barclay’s American Grill. If you stay for dinner, you’ll get a special discount.

The annual meeting takes place at Pleasant Home, corner of Pleasant and Home (duh!), at 6 p.m. The Barclay tour begins at 7 p.m. Cost is $15/$10 members. For more information, e-mail oprfhistorymatters@sbcglobal.net or call 708-848-6755.
