Baker back from bike trip
Retired Oak Park pediatrician Dr. Peter Baker completed his cycling trip around Lake Michigan on Sept. 1.

Baker, 75, who spent 40 years taking care of children in Oak Park, set out on his journey July 26, at his former practice, Pedios, on Chicago Ave. Baker cycled a recumbent tricycle 1,101 miles around the great lake for a total of 38 days.

The accomplished cyclist ended the excursion in New Lenox unceremoniously-with a flat tire.

Strikers hire new director

Murray Findlay, who has been a part of the OPRF Strikers for the past few years, has now been named the club’s director of coaching.

Murray’s soccer experience is extensive. He played on Scotland’s U18 National Team and continued on as a professional player for another four years, all the while obtaining a

Bachelor’s degree from the University of Edinburgh and graduating with honors.

Alum tabbed college coach

Daniel Lingenfelter, a OPRF graduate and former assistant coach at Fenwick, was recently named the men’s head soccer coach at Rockford College.

Lingenfelter graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2003 with a psychology degree. He has since coached various high school, college, and club teams, including Fenwick High School, Triton Junior College, Kendall College, and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
