Rush Oak Park Hospital Now Certified as a Primary Stroke Center

Rush Oak Park Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for certification as a Primary Stroke Center after undergoing a voluntary on-site evaluation and demonstrating compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care.

Stroke is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States, with about 4.7 million stroke survivors alive today. Being a certified primary stroke center means following best practices, providing a high level of stroke care, and producing better outcomes for stroke patients by delivering standardized care based on national recommendations and guidelines; tailoring treatment to individual patient needs and supporting patient self-management; using performance data to improve treatment plans; and promoting the flow of patient information across providers and settings.
