Dorothy M. Boland, 88, a longtime Oak Park resident, died on March 11, 2011 at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital. Born on Nov. 22, 1922 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to David and Muriel Madders, she was raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She attended New York Business School and was employed by Oak Park Federal Savings (later Great America Savings and Loan) until her retirement in 1991. She enjoyed classic movies and dancing.

Dorothy Boland is survived by her children, Patricia (Marc) Newman, James (Dawn) Maeder, and Susan Trella; her grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, Anne, Anthony, Tiffany, Nicole and Ashley; and her great-grandchildren, Emily, William and Carson.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, O. James Maeder and Edward J. Boland.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, from noon until 1 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Heart Association are appreciated.
