Oak Park Festival Theatre is hosting a family day. There will be an early performance of "Henry V" this Sunday

“Annie” comes to Oak Park River Forest High School 

It’s going to be a scorching hot weekend here in Oak Park so come cool your heels in the wonderfully air-conditioned OPRF High School Auditorium for their skilled production of “Annie”. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23; and begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and $6 for senior citizens except for Sunday, when senior citizens are admitted for free. Be sure not to miss the always impressive performance that’s sure to leave you humming favorites like “Hard Knock Life”, “Easy Street” and “Tomorrow”. Downtown Oak Park Indie Sidewalk Sale

While this next activity may require you to brave the heat, it’ll certainly be worth it to shop Downtown Oak Park’s Indie Sidewalk Sale, held from July 21-24. The sale hours are Thursday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, 12-4 p.m. As you stroll down the sale-filled streets, talented entertainment will be provided by bands Breakin’ Strings, Danny Abbot, Cuban Essence and Chris Weller.

Family Day at the theatre 

Finally, this Sunday, July 24, Oak Park Festival Theatre is hosting a family day. There will be pre-show activities, an early performance of “Henry V” at 6 p.m., dancing and stage combat workshops, storytelling, tours of the set and backstage, and explanations of the show. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and lasts until 9:00 p.m. at Austin Gardens and tickets are just $15 for adults and $10 for kids. Don’t miss this great opportunity for a day of theatrical family fun.
