Ruth Kelley Bertels, 87, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died after a brief illness in the Hospice Unit of Rush Hospital on May 31, 2014. She was a member of St. Edmund Parish. She taught every grade in grammar school as well as in high school. She had her own webpage and wrote a weekly column, “Take Five,” as well as one for the Archdiocesan newspaper in Wisconsin.
Ruth Bertels is survived by her sister, Fran Roach, and was preceded in death by Mary Kelley, Kitty Price and Tim Kelley. A memorial will be in Minnesota with burial in a family plot.
