Sheldon Jason Bruno, 43, died on Dec. 14, 2025. Born on Jan. 7, 1982 in New York, New York, he came as an infant to Oak Park because of his father’s job transfer. He graduated from St. Giles Catholic School and attended Fenwick High School, then Valparaiso University. He studied veterinary technology at Fox College in Tinley Park because of his love of animals and was employed at Eye Care for Animals in Chicago. He loved every type of animal from a very young age and traveled extensively with his parents to places such as Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, England, the Caribbean, the Polynesian Islands, Hawaii and most of the United States, especially Alaska. His love of animals meant that zoos and animal reserves ranked at the top of his to-do lists, followed by amusement parks, rollercoasters and water.
A heavenly celebration of Sheldon’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2026 at St. Giles Church, 1045 Columbian Ave., Oak Park, 60302.
Arrangements were handled by Sciaraffa Funeral Directors.
